Meteorological activities have recently envolved in terms og equipment and assistance to external users. So, Qualified professionals needs have become important and immediate.With the setting up, in the meteorology sector, new WMO and ICAO standards, the quality approach and business strategy and the use of information and communications technology. This movement requires a higher overall level of personnel to do the work of observation, weather forecasting and assistance.The Skilled technician in meteorology is called to make observations and measurements that underpin weather forecasting. He can operate an initial analysis of results, installs and maintains tools and equipment for collecting data.Also, it is required to:
  • exercise in the professional context of meteorology;
  • carry out the work of observation, weather forecasting and assistance;
  • Ensure adequate internal and external communication in the field of meteorology.

The curriculum of this course will enable beneficiaries to acquire skills related to:
  • The general meteorology and upper air,
  • The code, the message and observation,
  • Instrumentation and preventive maintenance,
  • The meteorological telecommunications, remote sensing,
  • The analysis and weather forecasting,
  • Aeronautical meteorology, marineweather,
  • Climatology,
  • The sectoral Meteorology (Hydro, Bio and Agro).
Age Restriction: 30 years old for Baccalaureate and 30 for bachelores
School level required: Diploma or Baccalaureate in Science Technique
Qualities and skills the candidate must have:
  • Sense of responsibility, organization and discipline
  • Sense og autonomy, analysis, creativity and initiative
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Selfcontrol, passion for technology and ambition for career development
  • Good command of the French language,
  • Good Familiarity with English,
The selection is organized jointly by the National Department of Meteorology (DMN) and OFPPT. It is operated based on the record, and completed by interviews.
The training is modular, and assessments are carried out as follows:
  • Continuous Controls;
  • Culminating examinations;
  • Passing examinations ;
  • End of training examination
After significant experience, they will develop Skilled skills and progress to specific functions of meteorological services within the National Meteorology Directorate.
